Avery Nelson
Bass

I'm a versatile and experienced bassist currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Music, Entrepreneurship and Business at San Diego State University. I've been playing electric and upright bass for 10 years, and my experience has shaped me into an adaptable performer and teacher.
As a teacher, I believe it is crucial that a musician be as well rounded as possible on their instrument. I enjoy playing music in as many genres as I can. I was the principal bassist in the SDSU symphony, the electric bassist in "The 70's!" at LAMB's Players Theatre, and I play in multiple rock bands which have taken me to House of Blues, SOMA, Casbah, Belly Up, NAMM, and many more notable venues. I have a year of teaching experience under my belt from my time at Thurgood Marshall Middle School, where I served as the bass coach for the beginning, intermediate, and advanced orchestra.
As a teacher, I tailor lessons to each student's goals while maintaining fundamental skills. Whether you're just starting our or looking to refine your technique, I can help you grow as a bassist and gain confidence in your playing!
